About us

Robin Lane Health and Wellbeing Centre

We are a rapidly expanding medical centre aspiring to deliver services fit for modern 21st century lifestyles. We have over 40 members of staff who work hard to provide a primary care medical service contract for GP services; we have a community eye contract which allows us to provide a hospital style eye service and we deliver (Isabel's role) but that's not all we do!

Robin Lane Health and Wellbeing Centre is so much more than an NHS GP practice, with an onsite café, arts events and free volunteer run activities it is truly integrated with the community it serves. Our vision is to offer the highest quality primary care to our patients and our mission is to 'enable patients to live longer and healthier lives that are full, active and meaningful'. This means that we recognise that conventional medicine does not always hold all the solutions to a person’s health concerns. We believe in listening to our community and we have learnt that social … is just as important as medical interventions for our patients overall wellbeing.

Put simply, health care isn't just about being there for you when you need us. It is about proactively looking after our patients to prevent or delay the development of health conditions in the first place. It is also about programmes of work and education that helps to improve the health of patients and the sense of wellbeing - the part that makes us feel alive and able to contribute to life. It is about empowering our patients to look after their own health in the safe assurance that we are there for them.

To complement our vision, we have embarked upon a redevelopment of our practice which is near completion. This has covered extensive investment in our premises, our infrastructure, our services and our staff.  All to improve the patient experience.

We founded Love Pudsey, which is a charity that is housed next door to our main building.  The centre offers a wide range of volunteer led activities and groups, and provides a relevant additional health and social care services that add value to the people of Pudsey and surrounding areas. Most of the activities are free to the public, and the centre itself acts as a focal point for the community.

We operate a coffee shop to allow our patients a place to congregate and share together, with a proportion of the profits being given back to Love Pudsey.

Over the last five years, we have steadily grown from 8,500 patients to over 13,200 patients. The more patients that join us on our journey, the more we can provide and offer. It is a journey of trust, and a journey that has your health and wellbeing at its heart.

If you are interested in the work we do, please get in contact with us.  You can write to our practice or ask to speak to the Managing Business Partner, Samuel Forbes, who would be delighted to share with your our emerging vision and aspirations for our community.

Individual behaviour isn't the only factor that contributes to a person's state of wellness.

A study conducted in 2009/10 by Gallop across 150 countries found that there were 5 universal elements of wellbeing that transcended faith, cultures and nationality. The research recognised that whilst people took different motivating paths to achieving wellbeing, whether an environmental cause, a
spiritual faith or a dream, wellbeing was damaged when there was a deficiency in any single one of the 5 elements.
